This is kind of embarrassing because I’ve never asked anyone to vote for me before, but as you can see from the badge above, I’d like you to vote for my blog in the Best Australian Blogs 2013 Competition People’s Choice Award. If you click on the badge, it will take you to the voting form.
Fortunately, voters do not need to be Australian, so if you read my blog overseas, you may vote.
More than 1007 blogs have entered the People’s Choice Award, so I’m a clear underdog. But it’s mostly about the writing and that’s why I write, edit and publish a weekly blog. If you like my blog, gonzomeetsthepress, I’d love for you to vote for me. There’s still a chance I could win something in the Best Australian Blogs 2013 Competition, which is determined by judging, not votes. UPDATE: One thousand one hundred and 22 blogs have entered that competition!
If you want to follow the competition updates and conversations on Twitter, the hashtag is #bestblogs13 or on the Australian Writers’ Centre Facebook page on http://www.facebook.com/WritersCentre?fref=ts The sponsor is Random House and the prizes include writing training, cash and books. The overall winners gets a mentoring session with a Random House editor, where I can show him my unpublished novel on television (hey, I can dream, can’t I, and I do have an unpublished, thrice-rejected novel on television!). Finalists for the rounds will be announced on Tuesday, April 23, 2013; winners will be announced on Wednesday, May 1, 2013.
You can vote in the People’s Choice Award until 5pm (AEST) on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. The competition coordinator said we should start our media blitz, as the award is now open. I’m not big on sending a blitz of tweets, so I promise not to bother you again, unless someone tells me I’m getting close in the competition (fat chance of that!). But you can always contact me on my Twitter account @krauset or my Facebook page. This post (and badge) will also be published on both Twitter and Facebook, as usual.
Thanks for your support, especially to those of you who have already pledged your vote, and Happy Easter.
PS If I do manage to win something, I will be eternally grateful.
